LIFE

Glimmer after glimmer, reflections abound
ripple after ripple, waves persist
tide after tide, they come
warm and inviting, cold and alluring
calm and beckoning
into their abyss, they call
tempting a sojourn of endless solitude
wheels of fortune, spokes of life
speaketh not a word, maketh not a sound
the mellow hymns and melodious tones
they fill our hearts and envelope our minds
deeper and deeper we must venture
losing sight of time and depth
mortality matters little to the immortal
impermanence to the permanent
we sink and sink
darkness abounds all around us
light has ceased to shine
lest our souls choose to illuminate forth
the sounds, they are none
hark we may, there is little to hear
many a sailor, many a God's creature
traversed this path before thou
sinking with elegant poise
awaiting the end, the bottom
it seems like an eternity
contemplating all of life's triumphs
reflecting upon all of life's trivialities
every yearning must be answered
every cry, heard
every drop of tear, shed
every flicker of hope, fanned

every beat of thy heart, felt
every moment, reminisced
for this sojourn is short lived
we have now arrived at the abyss
a graveyard of hopes and dreams
it is deafeningly silent
it is unbearably dark
it is after all a concoction
a fabrication of thy mind
rise up, stay afloat, see, hear
to do all these one must only
wake up, open one's eyes
from the slumber, from that endless slumber
called LIFE.
